Sophie & Joshua’s Wedding at Crow Wood Hotel, Burnley
Nestled in the heart of the Lancashire countryside, Crow Wood Hotel is a standout choice for couples seeking a contemporary luxury venue with charm, character and beautiful colourful garden. We’ve filmed at Crow Wood before, and it never disappoints – from the spacious interiors to the colourful landscaped grounds, it offers so many opportunities for storytelling on camera.
So, when Sophie and Joshua got in touch about filming their big day here, we couldn’t wait to be part of it.
A Day Full of Emotion, Light and Laughter
The day began with low clouds and a touch of drizzle, but the weather quickly turned in our favour. By the time golden hour arrived, the skies had cleared, and the sun lit up the gardens with the most beautiful warm glow – perfect for evening portraits and a relaxed outdoor BBQ.
The venue’s fountain and floral borders added a romantic pop of colour to the footage, while the gentle light created a soft, cinematic look that we love to capture. With around 70 guests, the atmosphere was vibrant yet intimate – everyone there was truly present, and that really came across in the moments we filmed.
Personal Vows and Party Vibes
One of the most memorable moments of the day was Sophie and Joshua’s personal vows. Their words were thoughtful, heartfelt and beautifully delivered – the kind of vows that make you laugh and cry in the same breath. Filming these private moments is a privilege, and we always take a discreet, documentary-style approach so you can stay focused on each other.
The speeches that followed were equally brilliant – warm, emotional and full of character. You could feel the love in the room, and it made for some amazing reactions on film.
As the sun set, the celebrations shifted up a gear thanks to a surprise saxophonist who joined the DJ for the evening set. The energy on the dancefloor was unreal – music, laughter, and a few standout dance moves that we’ll definitely be including in the final cut!

A Videographer’s Favourite Moments
There were so many moments we loved capturing throughout the day, but here are a few personal highlights:
Golden hour portraits of Sophie and Joshua, walking hand in hand across the sunlit lawn
Natural moments between guests – hugs, laughter and happy tears during the ceremony and speeches
The DJ-sax combo lighting up the dancefloor and getting everyone moving
Detail shots of the couple’s personalised decor and styling choices, from the table settings to the welcome signage
These are the kinds of details that bring a wedding film to life – not just how it looked, but how it felt to be there.
Why These Moments Matter
Weddings are full of blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments. The look on your partner’s face when you say your vows. The pride in a parent’s speech. The wild dance moves your friends insisted they’d never do.
That’s why we take such care to film every part of your day authentically. We use professional audio equipment to capture your vows and speeches clearly, even in outdoor or busy environments. And we take a low-key approach so you can enjoy your day without feeling like you’re performing.
One of the things we love most is pulling out those unique moments from the footage – screen grabs that freeze a split-second glance or reaction you might not even remember happening. These are the kinds of expressions and interactions that fall between the frames of traditional photography – but a rolling film won’t miss them.
